Last week I started this project in the drugstore aisle of my lipstick collection (I don’t actually have aisles of lipstick. Although that would be very cool. I wonder if I can convince the boy to do some home renovations?) and I enjoyed it so much, I decided to stick with the whole drugstore thing again this week. Plus, I have a lot of drugstore lipstick. Plus plus I have a drugstore lipstick that I hadn’t worn out yet and I reeeeaallly wanted to. Let’s start with that one!

This has decent staying power (around 2 hours on me…which is a lot) and leaves a stain behind (a pretty stain, not a weird patchy stain).
The only thing you have to watch with this one is that it transfers easily. It seems to just sort of…end up on other parts of your face? It’s weird. Possibly a case of user error but I’ve never had that happen before so it’s worth mentioning.

That aside, Cherries In The Snow is a pink based red creme that is amazingly comfortable to wear and just makes you feel like a million bucks. It’s a moisturizing formula and like the two other Revlon shades I’m talking about this week, lasts around 2 hours on me.

Pink Champagne is a warmer pale pink and is actually a pretty color but it just looks like death on me. It also only lasts for about 20-30 minutes and smells RANK (as do all Rimmel lip products) and right about the time the scent is starting to fade, you need a reapplication. For me this is a bit of a bust. Clearly.

I love the combination of MAC lip liner in Currant with Revlon Cherries In The Snow. It creates a gorgeous vampy yet totally daytime appropriate situation. At least it’s daytime appropriate in my world. Because again, I do what I want! Ha!
This week was heavy on the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick formula so I just wanted to mention that this is quite possibly my favorite formula out there. I find very few lip products moisturizing (including actual lip balm which does absolutely zilch for parched lips) but Super Lustrous might fall in that very small category of moisturizing lip products. None of these lipsticks left my lips feeling like they were in better condition than before I wore them but they felt comfortable and moisturized all day long which is saying something. Normally I’m breaking out the lip treatments after lunch time.
I’m still really bummed that Pink Champagne looks so bad on me because I was really hoping we could work things out. Sometimes, you just have to know when to let go.
Do you have a color of lipstick that you really really want to wear but just can’t? Also, let me know if your mom had a signature lipstick and whether or not you’ve tried wearing it. Let’s get all nostalgic together!
I’m actually surprised you can wear Cherries in the Snow. It’s dark, even on me! Remember how that Mary Kay lipstick I loved (I think it was called suede) looked neutral on me, but brown on you?
Cherries In The Snow is almost a pink on me which is totally bizarre! And i love Suede! Definitely not a neutral on me though. A persons coloring makes all the difference in the world!
