If you are an administrator for a website you can see (at least some) of the search terms that brought various people to your site. Most of the time it is something that makes total sense (in my case this is things like “my pretty zombie swatches” or “mac retro”). Sometimes the search terms make sense but are hilarious (“baby poop green nail polish” – HELLO FRIEND! I’m so glad you found my blog! We should totally chit chat in the comments because I too love baby poop green finger nail polish and this could be the start of a beautiful friendship!!!) Sometimes it’s something truly puzzling (“flamingo gym” – I need to know what you were actually hoping to find. Is there such a thing as a flamingo gym? Is it a place for flamingos to pump iron without the pesky herons in the way? Or is it a people gym but with flamingos wandering around?). I feel like Nars’ main goal in life is to make my search terms way more interesting. I mean, what kind of accidental clicks will something like Deep Throat illicit??? I’ll keep you posted.
When I hauled this I think I mentioned that this was a re-purchase for me. I had this blush previously and it was absolutely my most used blush. I LOVED it! Then, tragically, I lost it. I don’t really know how one loses an entire blush, but it happened. So eventually I repurchased it because I was starting to develop separation anxiety.
Realistically, now that my collection is massively out of control more sizable than it used to be, I think I have other blushes that I reach for more often. That being said, this is still an absolutely stunning blush. It’s a nice peachy pink (more peach than pink), with a soft golden glow (not a shimmer, it’s very subtle). Basically it’s everything that I wanted Nars Orgasm to be (WHY is that “the most popular blush of all time”? It’s really not that good and it’s DEFINITELY NOT universal).
As far as formula goes, this is a stiffer blush. It doesn’t apply too heavily but can be moderately built up.
I’m really pleased to have this blush in my collection again and I do use it fairly often. I don’t think it’s a “must have” though and in general, I feel that Nars blushes are overrated. They perform just fine and they have colors that are nice but there really isn’t any special about them.
I don’t have any exact dupes for this blush in my collection, but there are plenty of other blushes out there that give the same general effect. I know Pretty Peach by Covergirl and Sunset Peach by Sonia Kashuk both have similar vibes.
Nars blushes retail for $30.00 and can be purchased at Sephora or Ulta.
Do you have this blush? (I felt like asking if you have Deep Throat just sounded too scandalous. But then I said it anyway.) What are your thoughts on Nars blushes in general? I know that YouTubers rave about them on the regular but again, I don’t think they’re really exceptional.
Haha – the search terms thing was so funny!
I’ve only tried the Nars blush in Orgasm. I never replaced it because it was too shimmery for me.
Haha, I love the weird search terms that come up!
It’s so so so shimmery! I have Super Orgasm and it’s completely out of control. I mean I love glitter but it’s not really something I could wear to the office.
I have both Orgasm and Deep Throat. (LOL thanks, NARS, for making me type that.) I totally agree: Deep Throat is superior. I never really use Orgasm at all. And, since it’s so popular, there are a zillion dupes for it, too!
Lol I feel like it’s all part of NARS’ diabolical plan to make us all seem much more scandalous than we really are 🙂 Remember a few years ago when EVERY time someone talked about a new blush, it was a dupe for Orgasm? It was a little out of control.
LMAO “baby poop green nail polish”! XD
And LOL the though of flamingo pumping iron – maybe they’re self conscious about their thin legs?
Hmm you’re selling me on this shade. You had me at “t’s everything that I wanted Nars Orgasm to be”. I do NOT like Nars Orgasm! (I almost wrote “I do NOT like Orgasm” but that would get taken out of context… 🙄 I received Nars Orgasm in several kits and duos and gave them away every time.
I’ve been wanting to grow my Nars blush collection… but it’s a slippery slope. I’ve spent so much find timing “dupes” for Nars blushes, maybe at this point I don’t need the “real thang”?
Now I’m picturing the flamingos as those dudes in the gym that always skip leg day. The ones with the massive biceps and teeny tiny little legs lol.
LOL too funny 🙂
I have the standard Orgasm in a duo and I really don’t care for it at all. I have Super Orgasm too but it is definitely Super something. Super Glittery mostly. I like it but it’s intense.
If you have dupes of NARS blushes you probably don’t need the real thing! I really think the formula of NARS blushes (in my admittedly limited experience with it) is pretty basic. It’s alright but it’s nothing special. So if you have the shades already in a formula that works for you, I say skip it! Now…do you happen to have a dupe for Luster, Sin or Exhibit A? 😀
Well I do own Nars Luster… I think it’s similar to MAC Warm Soul. Not too much of a savings but if you have one, you really don’t need the other.
I have a few orange-red blushes so I’ve struck Exhibit A off my list. My red blushes include: MAC Bite of an Apple, Shu Uemura P medium red 175, Inglot 66, Shiseido RD401 Orchid. Again, not drugstore dupes but just how many red blushes do I need? (a lot, apparently) Check out Inglot’s selection.
As for Sin, I’m thinking these are similar theBalm InStain blush in Pinstripe, theBalm Cabana Boy, NYX HD blush in Bitten (I don’t own this but based on testing it at the store).
Hope that helps somewhat!
It’s possible that one cannot actually have too many red blushes. Although they’re surprisingly uncommon in the drugstore! Out of your red blushes do you have one that you favor over the rest? I have one single red blush and it’s from MUFE and was prior to their re-naming/repackaging/reformulating thing. I’ll definitely look into Inglot. I don’t actually own much by them so I need to delve into the brand a bit further!
I’m adding The Balm In Stain in Pinstripe to my shopping list 🙂
Thanks for all of the recommendations!
Such a great shade with a horrible name. I wish NARS would give up on their schtick of having shocking names for their products but I guess it’s become their thing now.
I’m in the minority and love NARS Orgasm – I’m on my second pan of it! 🙂
I know right?! At one point I kind of thought that NARS naming system was a little bit edgy but now I just feel like it’s obnoxious. They went way overboard.
I think that when Nars Orgasm works for someone it is a really exceptionally flattering shade!
