Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette

Hey ya’ll! I missed you! I’ve been struggling with a wicked combination of writers block and too many demands on my time. It’s likely that I will still have slightly limited time for writing for a while but I thought I’d sneak in a quick post (ha! Do I ever write quick posts?). I feel like at this point, this post is so late that it’s a little silly…but you know what? I’m gonna post this anyway cuz that’s how I roll yo!

Since I’m a little rusty with the writing, let’s just jump into some photos!

I really dig the orange and purple combo in this palette. It’s just so good! But I’m going to say right here, you can totally get a “PB&J look” going on without this palette. In fact, I think I’ll put together some PB&J color combos and post those…in a few years or so O_O

This palette came with a card that gives three different looks. I actually really like the suggested color pairings, they were all a little different than what I would normally put together on my own so I went ahead and did each of the looks. Yay right?!

Soft & Sweet Look:

Rich & Creamy Look:

PB&J Look:

Here are some swatches as well as some eyeball photos so you can see how these shades look in real life.

Peanut Butter Cup:

Peanut Butter Cup is a chunky shade but it’s nicely pigmented.

Peanut Butter:

I used this shade a lot in the crease or as a transition shade but I guess it didn’t really inspire me to do a whole look on it. Or I forgot to take a photo if I DID do a look with it. Either way is possible really.

Spread The Love:

Spread The Love is a mostly matte pale peach shade. It does have glitter in the matte base and to some extent they transfer to the lid, but for the most part, this is a matte eyeshadow. I like it but it’s a weird tone. It’s not dark enough to use as a transition shade, it’s too dark to use as a highlight shade. I did use it in both capacities but it wasn’t ideal. Obviously that will vary based on your skin tone.

Jammin’:

Jammin is almost a blackened purple but it still maintains a purple tone. This one did crease on me but it might not do that if you used a primer. I use some fairly greasy skin care so you should take that into consideration I guess.

Peanut Brittle:

I really love Peanut Brittle. Both the candy and this shade. It’s a nice rusty orangey shade that’s right up my alley.

Bananas:

I didn’t expect to like Bananas as much as I do! I can’t exactly put my finger on why, but it’s just a gorgeous shade. It’s not quite champagne, not quite gold, not quite white or pink based. It’s a mix of all of those things and it’s a great texture too. One of my surprise favorites in this palette.

Nuts About U:

Not to toot my own horn, but I really like the way this look turned out! Nuts About U is a gorgeous shade despite having “U” in the title. Seriously, can we just not do that? It feels so lazy! I mean, use it when you’re texting someone by all means, but not in the title of something. But a pretty shade!

Jelly:

You can see in the PB&J Look above how this shade looks on the eye. It doesn’t swatch very well and quite frankly, it doesn’t apply very well either. I think that’s fairly common for this type of color but still, you’d think a company as big as Too Faced could get it right. It’s definitely workable and it is pretty, it’s just the weakest link in this palette for sure.

Extra Creamy:

This is one of those shades that is a must have in every palette for me. It’s a nice matte white shade that got used in most every look. Pretty unremarkable, but pretty necessary and appreciated. I hate the name. But it’s a great work horse of a shade. It has a warm base in case you were wondering.

The boring stuff:

Available from Ulta for $36.00 and still available as of June 26th, 2016. I believe that this is limited edition but I’m a little unclear about that. I purchased mine from the Too Faced website but they don’t have it listed at all any more.

Overall I think this is a really fun little palette! I really enjoy using it and have gone back and used it with other eyeshadows as well which is rare for me. That being said, I think that “fun” pretty much sums it up. This isn’t a must have item and most likely, you can dupe these shades from your collection (particularly if you have a lot of Too Faced palettes). But I love the color combinations and the quality is pretty dang good. Even the dud shade is still usable. I didn’t have fall out issues or fading issues, I did have some creasing issues but those went away when I used a base.

Do you have this palette? If so, what do you think of it? What are your favorite shades? Would you be interested in a post about a frankensteined peanut butter and jelly themed palette if I put such a thing together? Do you think we should ban “text talk” from language outside of actual texting? Can we start a petition?

Tidbits:

  • My parents visited me for two weeks at the beginning of the month and it was fantastic! We took a road trip, we stayed at the beach, we had an un-birthday party for my grandma and we ate way too much really delicious food but mostly we just sat around drinking copious amounts of coffee and visited. It was perfection.
  • The Boy and I have vacation time coming up the week of the Fourth Of July and we might actually get some painting done! We’ve only been living in this house for six months.
  • I’m about half way through reading the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter and if Urban Fantasy is your thing you MUST check it out. Jane’s character is so likeable and relate-able and bad ass and she is a shapeshifter that shares her soul with a mountain lion. All of the parts where she’s in mountain lion form are written from the perspective of a big cat if a big cat could talk and I just think that’s delightful.

  1. That palette is SO beautiful! I never picked up any of the TF palettes, but maybe I’ll get this one. Love your swatches and eye look.

Oh man, we’ve been living in our place for 3 yrs now and I still haven’t finished painting everything. LOL I’m terrible.

    1. I am SO RELIEVED to hear that you aren’t finished painting either! Seriously, I’ve been developing some sort of complex about it, my friends and family keep asking me if I’m finished painting yet and it’s weird and stressful! πŸ™‚
Thank you! And I think this is the coolest palette that I’ve seen from the brand so it might be a fun one to pick up.

      1. Hahaha! DH is merciless when it comes to making fun of me about the painting. He wanted to hire painters when we first moved in, and I was all…noooo I haven’t decided what colors I want yet! And now everything is half painted. :p

  2. How cute this is!
My favourite look is the Rich & Creamy. That metallic sheen is so pretty and I like how you blended everything.
And Jammin’ is a stunning shade! I’m also with you on the Banana shade – something about how it’s not a yellow gold makes it really wearable.
And of COURSE this is limited edition and exclusive to Ulta – of course! πŸ˜›
Um this sentence: “Jane’s character is so likeable and relate-able and bad ass and she is a shapeshifter that shares her soul with a mountain lion.”
I’m really not sure how relate-able I am with a shapeshifting mountain lion chick. πŸ˜†

    1. Thanks! I still can’t tell if my blending is adequate or under-developed or over-blended.
Jammin’ is surprisingly nice! Normally I have a hard time using blackened shades but this one is really pretty.
LOL! Now that I’m reading that bit about the book through new eyes, that sentence seems completely wacky. I do not fancy myself a bad ass shapeshifter nor do I share my soul with any other entities. But all of that aside, the character is really relate-able lol.

      1. I think I just read the last one that came out. Series isn’t finished yet, and the writer just published book two of a series that takes place in the same world, maybe a slight crossover. I haven’t read them yet, but they are on my wishlist.

      2. I think the last couple of books have an excerpt from the crossover series after the book. I haven’t really checked it out too much but it’s nice to know there’s another series by the same author to read in between new releases πŸ™‚
