Hey Ya’ll! I have a whole mess of empties to talk about. Embarrassingly, a few of these actually moved with us because it never occurred to me to throw them away and have one less thing to relocate to the new house. Oy.
Let’s start with the non-beauty related items.
Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Candle
I’ve never included candles in my empties before! Mostly because it takes me years to work through one of these. I like candles but in the past I’ve only burned them rarely. However, since we moved, our new house has a lingering odor of dog so I’ve actually been burning candles most of the time when I’m home. This particular candle is at least 2, maybe three years old and I’m really proud of myself for finally finishing it! Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin is released every fall and is a nice warm, spicy scent that isn’t overpoweringly sweet.
Number of times purchased: This is the first candle I’ve purchased of this scent.
Would I repurchase: Yep! I already have two more from this last fall.
Bath & Body Works Eucalyptus Mint Candle
This puppy isn’t messing around. This candle is so strong that it can take your breath away. It’s a great bathroom scent but you best be sure you love this scent before buying it because it is STRONG. I can leave this candle open and unlit and still smell it throughout an entire room. Eucalyptus Mint IS part of the permanent line of candles that are available year around although the packing has been updated to something much classier in the last 4 years.
Number of Times Purchased: 1
Would I repurchase: Yes but I have a few more candles to finish off first.
Schwarzkopf Omega Repair & Moisture Conditioner
Another thing I don’t normally include in my empties: conditioner. But I wanted to talk about this one because I really hate this conditioner. In fact, I don’t think I used even half of the bottle. It smells great but it really did NOT condition my hair. My hair felt dry and like straw immediately after using this. I think it was actually damaging my hair but I’m not really sure.

Would I repurchase: No
Matrix Miracle Treat Lotion Spray
I love this! It’s essentially just a leave in conditioner but it’s a really good one. It never made my hair greasy but it did make it softer and I feel like it helped tame fly aways as well. If you’re looking for it at your hair salon or Ulta, I think the packaging has changed.
Number of Times Purchased: 1
Would I repurchase: Absolutely! However…as with most things that I would repurchase, I have a few other products in my stash that I need to use up first.
Smashbox Lip Gloss – Illume
This was a gift from a friend quite some time ago and this little guy finally bit the dust and started leaking everywhere. I think that this shade has been discontinued but it was a nice sparkly nude lip gloss.
I go in spurts of wearing foundation and not wearing foundation so it’s difficult to use up an entire tube or tub or bottle of foundation related product before it goes off. That’s the case with this primer. The Fix & Perfect original primer has been discontinued but I can’t imagine that it’s all that different from any of the three other primers that Rimmel carries. It’s nice enough, it smoothed out my skin and didn’t break me out. I just didn’t use it up and the last time I reached for this, the scent was a little off.
Nivea Lip Butters in Raspberry Rose Kiss and Caramel Cream Kiss
These lip butters were all the rage when they were first released. Everyone and their mother was raving about them. They never did much for me by way of actually taking care of my lips but they sure smelled amazing. Unfortunately, I’ve had these long enough that they no longer smell amazing
Number of Times Purchased: I had all three scents, so I guess three times? But I bought them all at once so maybe only one?
Would I repurchase: I would maybe possibly buy the Caramel Cream scent again in a moment of weakness just because it smelled so good, but based on product performance, no, I wouldn’t repurchase these again.
Kheimistrii Buttercreme – Pear Santal
This is a really nice body lotion/body butter. The texture is kind of interesting, it feels light and whipped rather than thick or greasy. It soaks in/evaporates quickly and doesn’t leave any greasy feeling. The scent is strong enough that you notice it and it lingers all day but I don’t feel like the silage is huge which is actually really nice. The Pear Santal scent is like a very grown up fruit scent. If pear trees grew in forests, that’s what this lotion smells like. Pear, moss, and just an earthy light scent. It’s really nice!
Also, the shop was nice and had a good turn around time. I think I had my order within about a week or so, it arrived within their listed TAT frame.

Would I repurchase: Yes at some point in the vague future π
Mystic Divine Luminous Shine Smoothing Masque
I’ve mentioned this hair mask before in previous empties posts. I really like it! It has a vague pleasant fruity scent and is a very thick consistency. I feel like it is very nourishing and it’s really one of my favorite hair masques to date. At the moment, I’m not dying my own hair and since my need for hair dye was the main reason I was frequenting Sally’s (where this is sold), I haven’t repurchased this in a while. But I actually miss it from my routine and feel like I have to use more frequent coconut oil treatments without this product.
Number of Times Purchased: 2 or 3?
Would I repurchase: Absolutely!
I’m not sure why I didn’t take a photo of the wand on this before I tossed it out. The whole point of this mascara is that it has a teeny tiny little wand. For all over lashes, this really isn’t good. It takes a million years to coat all of my lashes. BUT, for bottom lashes, this is really nice. It’s easy to hit all of those little lashes without bumping your skin. It doesn’t transfer easily and it doesn’t flake. Now, I’m pretty lazy and can’t normally be bothered to use two separate mascaras but this was nice to have on hand for when I was using a mascara with a ridiculously huge wand.

Would I repurchase: Maybe
This perfume was launched some years ago and was either limited edition or has been discontinued. Reading the note description on Fragrantica makes me think that I should have LOVED this scent! Caramel, popcorn, orange, strawberry, rose, patchouli, I mean come on! That sounds amazing! On me, this was just a sort of nondescript but pleasant fruity floral. It made no impression other than being a little sweet smelling.
Jack Black Lip Balm – Grapefruit and Ginger
I’m still disappointed that this is not THE Jack Black, it’s some weird impostor. This felt ok on the lips, mostly like Vaseline. It didn’t last long. It also has sunscreen which may be ok for you but was horrible for me.

Would I repurchase: No
This smells so nice! Like apricots! So shocking! But I kind of suspect that it was making my cuticles MORE dry. I’m not sure…but I’m not risking it.

CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream
This cream you guys! It is really good! Now, I have fairly dry skin, sometimes it will be a little bit combination but more often than not, it’s on the dry side of the spectrum. This night cream is really thick and borders on being heavy but it doesn’t feel greasy if that makes sense. If I use this for a whole week I’ll get a few clogged pores but if I use it for 2-3 days then skip a day, it’s perfect for me. I don’t know how I’ll feel about this in the summer but I used it in South Africa during their summer and didn’t have any problems so I’m going to say it’ll be fine.
Number of Times I’ve Purchased: This is my first tub.
Would I repurchase: Done and done!
CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum
I love this day cream. Love it I say! It absorbs/evaporates quickly but leaves my skin looking very dewy and feeling very soft. It doesn’t look greasy, just dewy. It’s wonderful.
Number of Times I’ve Purchased: This is my first tube.
Would I repurchase: Already have!
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation
I bet you can guess why I’m throwing this out. That’s right! It contains chemical sunscreen! I did use this once and it was a nice enough foundation. I would say it’s a fairly light coverage, it looked nice on the skin and didn’t do anything weird throughout the day. I don’t think you can give an accurate analysis of foundation after only one use, but my first impression of it was a pleasant one.
Number of Times Purchased: This was a sample from Sephora or a point perk or something.
Would I purchase: No.
That wraps this empties post up! Have you used up anything lately? Have you hit pan on any makeup recently? I haven’t. I rarely do. It’s weird!
Tidbits:
- We actually went out to a local bar last night and they had a really great band playing! Now I’m ready to not see other people for a few days. Do you get like that after social interactions?
- I’m currently snuggled up with both cats and I think I may just stay in bed all morning.
- I picked up the latest book in the Mercy Thompson series and I’m so stoked!
I love that you included a Tenacious D video, haha!
I’m the same way about social interaction – it is great and all but then I need some alone time afterwards.
Haha! They’re awesome, how could I not include them? π
Introverts unite! Separately! π
I’m like you, it takes me FOREVER to go to a while candle. I finished my first 3 wick one late last year – look at your with your 2 empty 3-wicks, woohoo!
Ooh I just started using the Nivea blueberry lip butter and it’s SO delish. Have you tried that one? It smells like blueberry yogurt!
Hahah that Tenacious D video is GOLD! π
Why do you suspect the Essie oil was making your cuticles MORE dry? That’s odd!
I keep pausing at the CeraVe section at the store but never committing to anything. I’ll have to look into these when the brand is on sale – I don’t know if we even have these here. I’ve seen only the CeraVe lotions in pump bottles.
YES, I get so exhausted from social interactions. I’m fine DURING them, I’m very sociable in that regard. But they poop me out and then I go right back to hermit mode.
I’m so proud of us for finishing ANY candles! We deserve chocolate! π
Blueberry?! I don’t think that’s even an option here! We have vanilla, caramel and raspberry. Canada gets all the fun toys.
Tenacious D is amazeballs π
I suspect I had some sort of reaction or sensitivity to the fragrance in this oil. Every time I used it, I ended up with hangnails the next day. The really painful kind.
Some of CeraVe’s stuff is nice and some of it is kind of bland if that makes sense? It’s a good option for sensitive skin though.
Hermit mode is my favorite π I think this basically sums up being an introvert honestly. I dig people! I dig being around people! But it comes at a price. Introverts unite! Separately! In our own homes! π
Haha love that last bit! “Introverts unite! Separately! In our own homes!” π
Oooh yeah that does sound like an allergic reaction to that cuticle oil – good thing you deduced what the cause was… hang nails suck!
Oh I just looked up the Nivea lip butter in blueberry and it seems it’s only in the UK and Canada for now… might eventually make its to you soon enough! Sorry for being a tease. π
I was just mentioning to fivezero that so far, all of my favorite bloggers that have commented on this are introverts and it’s like we have a club that we don’t have to leave home to participate in! So basically the best kind of club π
Between the Coffee Crisps and the blueberry lip balm, Canada is sounding pretty awesome!
I loooove the one Smashbox lipgloss I have! I think I need more π
Great bunch of empties! I have one of those Nivea lip balms lying around that I need to get around to using. Hope it hasn’t gone off, LOL!
And yeah, as an introvert, I can totally relate. I get exhausted after being with a lot of people (apart from close family/friends).
The Smashbox lipgloss really is such a nice formula isn’t it?
Apparently you guys get a blueberry flavored Nivea lip balm up north that isn’t available here!
It’s interesting that so far all of my favorite bloggers that have commented here are also introverts. It’s like we have a cool club that we don’t have to leave our homes to be part of!
Ooh I must look for this special Canadian blueberry lipbalm! π
Haha, that is certainly interesting re:introverts. Blogging does lend itself very well to our introverted preferences, I suppose. π
Nothing like a great empties post on a Sunday morning! I’m sorry – I’m literally having a bit of a reading binge on your blog right now – you must be sick of the notifications hahah xx
Not at all! I’m glad to not be the only that enjoys binge reading blogs! I actually can’t wait to binge read YOURS. I think the drawing of the empties post was one of the most creative posts I’ve seen in a while!
Heehee aww thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoy them – I adore drawing them π and binge reading blogs is the best! It’s something I lost sight of for a while and now I can’t seem to stop haha
I hear ya on that one! I feel like I haven’t been able to sit down and spend an afternoon reading blogs. I’m overdue! π
Aw man, great empties! I admit we’re always using up candles and packs of incense here, haha. Kheimistrii Buttercreme β Pear Santal sounds soo good! I’ll have to look into that CeraVe cream, though. =o Been using Soap & Glory’s Wish Upon a Jar and it’s downright magical.
Thanks!
I walked past a shop that was burning Nag Champa and it smelled like bad decisions and good conversations. It was kind of awesome. But that was the first time I’d smelled incense in YEARS.
The Kheimistrii Buttercreme really does smell good. It has kind of an unburned incense note to it. I dig it.
I’m adding that Soap and Glory Wish Upon a Jar to my wish list. I think I need something to alternate with the CeraVe night cream since it’s so thick.
LOL. Nag champa smells good, but yeah. Yeah.
Be warned, Soap and Glory’s Wish Upon a Jar is pretty dang thick, too. It’s definitely a cream, not a lotion. But on the plus side, it smells EXACTLY like orange cream bars. (Do they have those at your grocery store?? They had them at exactly /one/ that we hardly ever visited when I was a kid, and they were amazing)
I want my whole life to smell like orange cream bars! I’m definitely going to have to check this cream out.
I haven’t actually seen an orange cream bar in ages. I’m going to have to look for them the next time I go grocery shopping.
