ILNP – Cozy Mittens

Today we’re wrapping up this round of ILNP nail polish posts and we’re going to finish with a bang! Do you love flaky polishes? Holographic polishes? How about metallics? Or maybe you’re more of a neutral kind of person? Well if you said yes to any or all of those, Cozy Mittens might just be your new favorite polish.

ILNP‘s description of Cozy Mittens:

Cozy Mittens is a perfectly soft and luxurious linear holographic nail polish accented with an array of gold flakes for a truly elegant finish.

The super fine holographic particles used in Cozy Mittens give the finish of this nail polish an incredibly warm and silky feel to it.

The primary color of Cozy Mittens is a light grey however, in certain types of lighting the added gold flakes really assert themselves and push the overall hue of the polish towards a soft champagne.

A classy shade perfect for the season!

Fully opaque in 2 to 3 coats!

Honestly, the website description is spot on. This polish is SO GOOD. Sometimes it looks like a straight up silver holographic (linear! My favorite!), sometimes it looks like a soft gold or champagne, sometimes it looks like a warm silver metallic. It’s lovely in any light really.

My photos really don’t do this polish justice. Just trust me when I say that this really is an elegant nail polish and I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you try it out.

The photos above are two coats of Cozy Mittens over OPI Nail Envy and topped with Seche Vite. While this polish is opaque in two coats, I will do a third coat in future because I can still see a little light through the tips of my nails and that just bugs me a little bit. But if you’re not neurotic like me, then two coats is completely sufficient.

I’ve had this polish on my nails for five days now and I can’t see any visible tip wear, there are no chips, and I could probably wear this polish for another five days if I weren’t irritated by my nail re-growth situation.

Cozy Mittens is from the 2015 Winter collection and retails for $10.00 on the ILNP website.

Are you going to pick up anything from the Fall or Winter collections at ILNP? One of the things that I dig about ILNP is that they seem to keep their seasonal collections around for a decent amount of time. Right now there are three limited edition collections available on their site. Out of the six polishes I’ve tried from ILNP, I’ve been impressed with the quality on all of them but I think that the brand’s real strength is in their duochromes. They’re incredibly good. The holographics are nice too and I want to snag one of their Ultra Flakies, but those duochromes are insane.

Tidbits:

  • We’re having dinner guests later this week and we’ve never had enough space in our house for dinner guests before so I’m excited! And nervous. And still waffling back and forth on menu items.
  • I started back at the gym on Monday and I am SO SORE. It’s a little ridiculous really.
  • Speaking of the gym, I thought I’d try something new and share Mondays workout here!

Workout:

Cardio – endurance day so I started out with 30 minutes on the elliptical before moving on to my weight training.

Weights – Chest, triceps and shoulders. I did a lower rep/ higher weight session which is good for building strength and bulking (I switch this up every couple of months.)

  • Incline bench press: 3 sets at 8 reps, 6 reps and 4 reps.
  • Assisted dips: 3 sets at 8,6 & 4 reps.
  • Shoulder press with a bar: 3 sets of three.

Circuit – I did three rounds on my circuit and included three exercises: incline dumbell flys, tricep kickbacks and shoulder raises.

Do you workout? What types of workouts do you do? I’d love start exchanging workout notes in the comments!

    1. Isn’t it lovely?!
Do you use a guide of some sort for your yoga or do you just wing it? I’m never quite sure how to structure a home yoga practice.
I need to start running now before it gets too hot, our running seasons are basically reversed:)

      1. I only started doing yoga at some point last year – maybe in the spring or summer (but only like 2 or 3 times a week) but have really gotten into it since January with my daily practice, even when I was sick! My flexibility has definitely started improving and I’m slowly getting better at some of the poses. I like doing it at home because I can just hop in the mat whenever I feel like it and not have to trek out to a class at a specific time / day.

      2. I haven’t been to a yoga class in over a year now but my instructor always said that ones home yoga practice is the bread and butter of a yoga practice. Now that I found my mat again after the move, maybe I can start adding yoga back in to my workouts. I miss it!

  1. I LOVE THIS ONE BEST! Ahhhh! Holograph AND flakies?! What sorcery is this? 😮
Such a wearable shade. A bit of bling but not overboard.
I’m on a nail polish buying BAN. I need to work my way through all the new ones I bought in January before I can even THINK about picking up any more.
We’ve literally never hosted a dinner. Ever. We’re not into entertaining at all.
Uh, I worked out for about a month this year lol. So lame! Mainly I focused on arms and core (abs and back). I’m really just trying to not have that skinny fat physique.

    1. ME TOO!!! I really love wearable shades that have that extra hit of a unique edge.
Lol at your nail polish ban. Are you feeling overwhelmed or are you enjoying the new polish options?
We’re not really into entertaining either, me less so than The Boy. I have slightly hermitish tendencies and I would much rather meet at a mutual place than host something. It’s kind of fun though! But I don’t think I’ll make a habit of it either 🙂
The whole “skinny fat” thing is kind of cute though! I’m either fat fat or fit so I kind of have to work out, there’s no real in between…I love food and beer too much 🙂

    1. I’ve heard such good things about SoulCycle! Is it vastly different from a standard spin class? I might have to look into it and see if I can find a class near me.

  2. Pretty polish, but I’ll admit that I’m a fan of cremes and mattes, not shimmer/glitters. =( It looks good on you!
Your workout is awesome. I envy your determination. I need to try a real workout routine, as my workout routine is multiple hour-long fast walks and carrying animal feed and water, lol!

    1. I don’t know why I’m so shocked that you aren’t a glitter fanatic but I am! I do think that cremes are the most universally flattering and chic finish. I just can’t resist a holographic anything really. You might be too young to remember this but at some point in the 80’s National Geographic did a magazine with a completely holographic cover and it was the prettiest thing I’d seen in my entire life. I loved it. I’ve also been obsessed with holographic everything ever since 🙂
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that your workout is probably the more real workout. Gyms are probably just to compensate for us lazy folks that don’t do real work lol. In any case, carrying animal feed and water is no joke dude! Plus you look awesome so it seems to be working for you 🙂

      1. Right? My nail polish tastes are pretty tame and are limited to nude and red cremes – so weird! It’s like everything else decided “ok, we’re over the limit, we’re going to need to calm down SOMEWHERE”
I vaguely remember holographic Pokemon cards from the early 2000s, and those were pretty awesome. I understand, though. Holographic things are beautiful. =o
Haah, maybe so, but gyms seem to require more… willpower. Here, it’s “you take care of the animals, or they die”, not “you go work out for two hours or get flab” – one definitely requires more dedication than the other! 166 lbs… of pure MUSCLE. That’s sweet of you though, I’m always admiring how healthy you always look in your selfies. \o/

      2. I think that the red creme nail polish really works well with your over all aesthetic too though. So there’s that 🙂
Gyms do require more willpower maybe. I mean they smell bad. And there are crazy grunting people in gyms. At least feeding animals you feel like you’re accomplishing something though so that’s nice. Plus the whole animals not dying bit. That bit is pretty important 😀
        Thank you! 🙂
