I promise that we’re going to talk about empties in a minute but first I’m going to tell you why I can never go to CVS ever again.
It was a dark and stormy night (actually it was just really foggy…) and I had just jumped out of the shower, put on my pajama’s, was rocking a Turbie Twist and decided to put in a teeth whitening tray while I went into the garage to grab the last load of laundry from the dryer. Imagine my surprise when I realized that I had locked myself out of the house! (In case you missed it, we’re currently living in a temporary house and we’ve only been here for about two weeks so I haven’t learned all of the house’s quirks yet. Quirks such as being able to open a locked door from the inside but not so much from the outside). Now The Boy was working and it was around midnight so I couldn’t just pop next door to the neighbor to borrow their phone. Basically, I was in a pickle. So I rinsed out my whitening tray in the garage work sink (eew eew eewwwww….), took a deep breath and prepared to walk the half mile to the nearest store that is open at midnight. Barefoot. Did I mention the pj’s? How about the lack of bra? Because nothing makes you feel more confident than going out in public with no support for the ladies.
Luckily I WAS able to get a hold of The Boy and he was able to pop by the house within an hour and let me back in. The nice lady at CVS was very concerned that I was going to walk back home that late at night but I mean honestly, I clearly had no money and I was quite visibly a crazy person. No one wants to mug a totally crazy person. At least that’s what I kept telling myself.
Sometimes I feel like I have my life together and other times I kind of wonder if other adults do these kinds of things. Please tell me that you do these kinds of things too. We can start a club! Or a support group!
Alright on to the empties!
I don’t have too many things this month, partially because I threw a few things away while we were moving but mostly because I think I used up everything last month.
Milani Matte Flirty
This probably comes as no surprise but I’m throwing this lipstick out. It’s patchy and horrible and I just can’t with this.
Normally I love Milani lipstick but this particular one is just the worst.
Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick
This is ok. I don’t use it very often and this particular bottle is years old and it’s gone cloudy and weird and it freaks me out a little bit.
I’ve purchased this two or three times in the past and I would possibly re-purchase but it’s nothing amazing.
Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream
This is actually a really pretty CC cream. It was a decent color match and a fairly natural looking finish. The only problem for me is that it has a chemical sunscreen in it so it irritated my skin if I wore it for more than two consecutive days. If chemical sunscreen doesn’t bother you though, definitely check this out!
I’ve purchased this one time but would not purchase it again.
Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight & Fade Gel
This works pretty well as a spot treatment. Obviously I’ve used a fair amount of it but this particular tube is quite old so it’s getting pitched. In the last year or so I’ve decided to just embrace any spots that I get and I’ve just been letting them run their course most of the time. I’m not sure any of the treatments I was previously using really sped that whole process up all that much to be honest.
I think I’ve purchased this twice and I would possibly re-purchase if I am ever in the market for a spot treatment.
Mystic Divine Luminous Shine Smoothing Masque
I really like this! It was a gift with purchase at Sally’s Beauty but it was a really nice hair mask! It smells nice (sort of a generic fruity floral scent that isn’t overwhelming) and makes my hair soft.
I’ve already re-purchased and I’m half way through the second tub.
Monoi Tipanie Monoi Oil
If you’ve been around for a minute, you know that I really like my monoi oil. I’m not wild about this particular scent, but in general, this is a product that I swear by (if you like vanilla scents you NEED the vanilla monoi oil. It smells amazing.). I’m currently out of monoi oil which makes me sad but I don’t want to re-order until after we move. Again.
I’ve gone through 10+bottles of monoi oil and I will absolutely re-purchase. In fact, the last time I ordered this, I bought a box of ten and I think I’ll do the same thing again.
Banila co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm
I had heard really good things about this and wanted to compare it to the Clinique cleansing balm. This is a much thinner and much more smooth consistency than the Clinique balm. I also feel like I require more product and it doesn’t do quite as good of a job at removing mascara. It’s nice, it’s a pleasure to use (it does have fragrance) but I just think that Clinique Take The Day Off Balm works better and lasts longer. It’s also more easily accessible.
This is the first time I purchased this but I don’t think I will re-purchase it again.
Fortune Cookie Soaps Whipped Cream – The Wizard Collection – Butter Beer
This is truly delightful and I’m completely bummed out that it’s gone. This is my first Fortune Cookie Soaps Whipped Cream and I’m digging the formula! It’s definitely on the thick side but it really makes my skin feel amazing. As far as the fragrance goes, I think it smells like buttered rum, The Boy thinks it smells like cappuccino and either way, it’s really nice. But be warned, this stuff is STRONG. As in, I only put it on my legs because having it close to my face is totally overpowering. It will also make everything you touch and your whole house smell like Butter Beer.
I would definitely re-purchase this.
That’s it! I told you it wasn’t too much stuff this go around. What have you used up this last month? Do you have any products that you’re actively trying to use up? Any new loves or hates on stuff as it nears the end of it’s life?
Tidbits:
- I just came from the gym and it was the first time I’ve managed to work out in almost two weeks. It was horrible. And wonderful. It’s such a mixed bag, the gym is!
- I only have one and a half more weeks until I get to go on holiday! Woo hoo!!!
My back door is tricky like that as well, it has two locks, one you need a key to open and close ,but the other one lets you open even if it is locked. I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve locked myself out while BBQing, or taking out the garbage. Once I got locked out when Mr. Al was home, but he was at the far end of the house with a friend listening to music and didn’t hear me knocking on the door for like 15 minutes!
See, who comes up with that kind of a lock? Doesn’t that seem like some sort of design flaw? How could that possibly serve a purpose‽
Thank goodness for partners that eventually rescue us right? 😊
Oh man! The image of you walking barefoot in your PJs to CVS. Hopefully they won’t recognize you without the Tubie Twist? 😛
BUTTER BEER whipped body- cream? Oh my! Damn those limited edition things you fall in love with.
It might actually be much worse to be recognized without the turbine twist than the original episode was in the first place 😳
I need to just stop buying limited edition things. They always end making me so sad!
Thank you for the great post! I really liked to read it.
And black cat- looooove!
Thanks for stopping by and reading! 🙂
